When building a sunken platform in the underground level, the grey edge of the sunken platform keeps appearing. Please see attached picture, thanks.

Yeah and it causes z layer fighting or as some might describe it, terrible visual flickering. Obviously it can't be seen from the picture but when moving the game camera about, those edges will basically flicker like strobo lights. Unfortunately I'm not sure when this started happening, perhaps within a year or so?
