The game will load me in but once I click on my house hold it either just loads and have to restart the game or it just takes me back to the worlds and it’s just glitching.

Hi guys, I'm wondering if anyone else if running into this issue.
I was playing offline just before the update with a family I've had for a long time. I updated all my mods, cleared the cache, and updated my game without my mods in there.
Since trying to launch the game vanilla to make sure all is well, I can't seem to even load onto the family. I'm stuck on a loading screen, the music even plays, but the screen doesn't budge. I have to quit with task manager.
However I did try again and go in through load game instead and I clicked on another family and it worked fine, loaded in and everything. I know this new update is to do with family trees as much as a bunch of other things, I'm wondering if it's effecting a few people with large families, generations, and just longer saves in general. I'm not sure.. just something I've noticed.
I've tried to find other ways to load their household but nothing :( if anyone else is having this issue, let me know 😭!

Teeyvh Please open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 and delete any lastexception files you see. Try again to load your main household, and if and when it doesn't work, look for a new lastexception. If you find one, open the file, copy the text inside, and paste it into a reply here.
The issue with family trees is currently somewhat prominent but isn't the only reason certain households won't load, especially in saves that previously had mods or custom content present. Hopefully you'll get an LE that will point to a specific issue. But even if you don't, that's useful information.
Hi! Thanks for responding. The next time I tried to load my game, I removed my game version, cleared the cache etc and repaired the game again, since then I haven't got stuck on the loading screen.
Funny enough, I added my mods back too (which I know was risky considering the vanilla game was being weird.) and it worked fine first time I loaded in.. So I really don't know what the problem was. I'm still a little confused.
But thank you for your advice! If I run into the problem again I'll be back, however my game is completely back to normal ✨.
I'm having this issue too. None of the households in my saves will load. The only way to even be able to play at all is to start a new save. I have disabled mods and tried repairing my game. I have several backup saves at different life points for my one legacy family and none of those saves will load either. I just get stuck on the loading screen.
MissOliviaPaige Do you have any lastexceptions? Please see my previous post for how to find and provide one.
Hi there, the OP's suggestion didn't work for me, so I followed your instructions and did not get a lastexception file. When I go to load my save, it loads first into the neighborhood map, and then when I try to load in to my household, I get stuck in endless loading and have to use the Tank Manager to end the Sims program entirely. I have waited up to 10 minutes.
What do you mean, removed your game version? And which cache files did you delete? I'm going to try this fix before I send a lastexception to puzzlezaddict
Hey MissOliviaPaige when you head into your Sims 4 folder there should be something called localthumbcache and a game version file. Delete both of those before you start up your game :) that's what I did at least! Hope that helps. If not I can attach a picture of where it is in your Sims 4 folder.
yeah I'm having the same problem too even with the mods in my game :( i did @ teeych said and still same problem I'm stuck on the loading screen
Have either of you tried repairing the game through the ea or steam app?

Im having this exact issue, idk what to do, I tried everything, I removed all my mods, I deleted the localthumbcache and the game version file, nothing works :(

- Does it happen with any household you're trying to load or a specific one ?
- Can you enter the lot in build mode ?

No last exceptions.
It happens with every household within this save. New save works fine.
