My error was identical to the one described at the above link.
I loathe the Eco Lifestyle gameplay mechanics so it was no hardship for me to change the lot type of my Maker Space to Recreation Centre and that completely fixed the issue. However, if you want to play with the voting and stuff, that will break it. I have had problems with glitchy fabricators for a long time with my Maker Space. They randomly disappear causing the lot to become incomplete. Changing the lot type to Recreation Centre is a huge relief because hopefully those issues will now go away as well... even if I did have to dig a deep basement in which to place the unwanted stereo 🙄
