So I've noticed in the last week that my Cache folder generates an exorbitant amount of cache files, even when hardly using the Gallery. I regularly check and delete my cache, so when I glanced in it the other day, it had over 1800 files that I deleted. Today, it had over 1700. This is by just playing around in CAS, and with my Library, in a "New Game", with no mods or CC. I usually use a few mods, but I always remove the mods folder before updating and delete the cache files and wait for updates for them.
I've been spending a lot of time in CAS with my Library this week, but I noticed that when I open it, the Gallery is always the default page. Could this partly be why so many files generate? I have never had this many files in that folder, I don't think, ever.
Also, I've noticed people reporting their Gallery freezing and slowing, could this have anything to do with that, perhaps?

''Awaiting Additional Reports'', meaning ''we do nothing, if no more people report it'', not a major issue? pff...

Will do, thanks.

I'm unsure if that should empty out.
I'm very positive that the cache folder should delete and isn't doing that anymore but Maxis will need to decide if there's an issue or not.Guess for now it's manual deleting.

crinrict I just realized it's also happening in my onlinethumbnailcache folder as well. Currently containing over 4000 files. 😖
I'm just deleting the folders altogether to generate new ones before I play. Deleting other cache files as well just in case. - crinrict2 months agoHero+Status changed:TroubleshootingtoReviewed

I think that might be the problem. The cache folder should delete afak.

Yes, it is not deleting. After one play session in CAS I had 1800+ files. I have been deleting them myself before starting the game.

The folder should contain a picture cache for every item you checked within a play session. So maybe the cache folder doesn't delete itself anymore and that's the issue ?
I assume it stayed for you after you closed the game ?
