Sul Sul, Simmers,
I want to start by thanking everyone who’s posted in this thread for your detailed feedback, sharp eyes, and patience. You noticed that something wasn’t right with Sims blinking and eyelid behavior, and as we heard this feedback from more Simmers, this issue became a top priority as it directly affects how alive and expressive Sims feel moment to moment.
We’re pleased to share that our update on March 17th corrects under-blinking across Base Game and DLC animations, ensuring blinks now fully close. Blink behavior has also been tuned to work more reliably across different eye shapes, striking a better balance between natural movement and preserving intentional expressions like squints and stylized poses.
Beyond global improvements, we manually refined animations based on player reports. Actions like sleep loops, kissing, and stargazing received extra attention to ensure eyes close properly in key interactions.
In Create a Sim, the previous “half-blink” has been replaced with a full blink to better match in-game behavior. Lower eyelashes were also updated to move more accurately with the eyelid. Mood-based sleep animations now transition more smoothly, and redundant facial overlays were removed to prevent layered expressions.
All existing Sims automatically benefit from these improvements, and custom poses and animations inherit the updated blink behavior. In rare cases, more styled eye shapes may exhibit slight over-blinking or slight under-blinking. We chose this balance to avoid widespread under-blinking and to reduce excessive upper and lower eyelash clashing.
This work required a thorough technical evaluation from many teams! If you’re interested in the technical breakdown, including a list of animation files addressed, we’ve provided a blog here.
We’ll keep watching your feedback once the update goes live to make sure everything feels right. Thanks again!
thank you. I will wait for the update and gives proper feedback about it.
