Failed to launch error/Fully Black Screen when using CC

Hi all,

We're currently investigating into this error and working towards a fix. We're treating this as urgent and will be sharing updates as we receive them. In the meantime, some Simmers have seen success with the following steps:

1. Rename your user folder where your Mods folder is located. You can also drag it to your desktop
2. Launch the game and exit to create a new user folder
3. Copy your CC files over but don't copy the folders. Instead, make new folders manually

This has been the most frustrating update I have ever experienced. I only four mods (mccc, columns, wonderful whims and better expectations). I have a ton of CC. All my CC worked no issues. I added the mods one by one and it was the mccc mod that kept crashing. (I didn’t add back better expectations mod). I took the mccc mod out again and was able to launch the game. I downloaded to make sure I had the most recent but it kept crashing. I went to repair my game. Then I was able to get to the main page but the game wouldn’t open my file. I went in and deleted the “last crash” and “last exception” in my Sims folder. I then went and renamed my Mods folder and moved all my CC and mods over again. I added it to my new folder and deleted the old mods folder. Restarted my laptop and it finally loaded and I can play. But I don’t know if it’s a permanent fix because I was able to load my game on the morning of the 18th, but after I did the “repair update from the official sims team” it didn’t work after that. But now I’m in and can play if anyone wants to try what I did. 

They haven’t come out with one since the update on the 17th. People are arguing and saying they didn’t intentionally nuke. But I think they did. Especially since they won’t come out publicly, only random influencers are. But these people who do reviews are buying stuff from market place. So I have a feeling we are all screwed 

For the past 2 days all of us in this forum have been suffering trying to get the game back running. I have tried all suggested solutions and nothing has worked. It seems to work with some mods and then it invariably crashes again with the same mods. The only way it seems to consistently load is when all mods and cc are removed which is not an acceptable option. We are in this situation because EA decided to roll out a crap update which has broken everything. I really don't care whether it is the marketplace or somethiong else. EA need to stick their finger out and come up with a solution ASAP. Most of us have lots of files and I don't see why we have to lose them or arrange them in separate  folders by creator or whatever other nonsense has been suggested. I have almost 50000 files and I am not willing to spend the rest of my life trying to do 50/50, arrange in subfolders or whatsoever. Everything was working just fine before the stupid update! All EA needs to do is rollback to the previous patch until they are able to fix the issue. Just listen to your customers who have spend their well earned money on your product!

I have 80 folders in my mods folder... you are TRIPPING if you think im redoing all that crap because EA BROKE IT! Screw that!

This sadly didnt work for me

I havent been able to get my game to start with CC. It will however load with script mods only. Sometimes All the cc will load if its in the folder w/o script mods. I add everything together, it fails to load. This is ridiculous. I've tried every fix except manually making new folders. I have over 500 folders in my game. Im not doing it. They need to fix whatever they broke.

So... EA is aware of this? Where's the public post...?
