Family Lineage Aspiration Is Impossible To Complete

I play Sims 4 on an Xbox One.

My adult female sim has the Family Lineage aspiration and there are two problems:

1. Her adopted child daughter completed an aspiration, yet it didn't count towards her aspiration goal "have a child complete an aspiration"
2. Having the parent sim "encourage" their child sim while they're using the activity table is an option towards completing the "mentor your child 3 times" goal yet it isn't even an option.
