[FR] Objects randomly catch on fire after solved cursed book event

After getting the For Rent pack recently, things in my Sim's home start combusting randomly a bit after destroying the cursed book? I can't go 10 minutes without several fires? Some are like electrical but last night her entire unit burned down because the baby's changing table combusted twice within 5 minutes?? I tried a cheat code to stop fires but it didn't work and its like. unplayable. She can't even interact with her baby when theres a fire on the lot so it was just on the floor surrounded by flames. I had to close the game because it's so annoying. I know i can play my other saves but I spent so much time on starting this for rent legacy- it's a huge bummer because I got the pack for Christmas and I can't even play it.

Is there any way to report bugs in a way where they'll get fixed?? or do I just have to yell into the void of a forum. the sims is like my favorite game and im so sad.

Note from EA_Solaire:

Hello all,

If any of you are still encountering this on the latest game version (without mods), would you be willing to share your save file(s)?

If so, please send me a private message with a link to the file. Instructions can be found here: https://forums.ea.com/idea/the-sims-4-bug-reports-en/information-how-to-send-user-files-to-the-sims-4-team/5048472

Thanks!

Same issue here, I opened the game to a cursed book event, I destroyed it, my sim was cursed for 24 hours, fires started before the 24 hours were up (understandable if annoying) and they kept going.

I had over 7 fires today in game (played for around 4 hours), these were the items that spontaneously combusted that I remember: Orbs ceiling light x 3, Stringvarius violin x 1, Subtle saucer light x 1, Photo (possibly was the thermostat)x2

I have all expansions but Lovestruck, don't have bust the dust, play with only MC Comand Centre and UI cheats, on PC

  • Every time I've played recently, everything is randomly catching on fire. My bed caught on fire at least 2 or 3 times before I finally just replaced the bed, thinking that was the problem. I love the sims, but at this point it isn't enjoyable anymore. My sims have no money to replace everything that's burned, and now everyone is scared of fire. I saw someone saying that happened after the cursed book rental event, I had that happen a few days ago but since then my sims have sold that rental house and live in and own different ones now. I never completed the event, so that could be problem.

  • Also having this issue since the cursed book event. I could never find it. Now I have fires every sim hour and it's unbearable. I've played this legacy save for 5 years.

  • On playstation 5 and this happening to me. I tried evicting them then moving into a different lot that didn’t work so I tried transferring all my sims into a different household and that didn’t work either. I’ve also disabled For Rent Events 😭 I’m also in the middle of getting 26 generations so i cannot just delete and re upload :(

This has started happening to me in my save after a cursed book today. Several fires just randomly in the middle of the hallway, not even an actual object that’s gone up!

This glitch, where the most random of things is catching on fire, is making my Sims 4 game unplayable. I have tried everything, removing Mods, Clearing Cache, Repairing my Sims 4 game, turning off Fears, moving Household out of lot and then back in. Still things keep catching on fire. This has occurred after the most recent update, no matter where my Sim goes. At this rate I have been playing Sims 2 & 3 because I just can't play my Sims 4 saves without things catching on fire and burning to dust. This has happened in every household I have tried to play. Like I said this glitch didn't start happening until the recent update. This is on PC.

Basically on a certain household on my save, fires will start randomly at any lot when they are present. Sometimes it doesn’t happen for a couple sim days, but then it will start again being constant for a few sim days. I play on PS5. I read somewhere that this may be due to a cursed lot rental lot event which this household previously had in the past , I’ve tried removing the fear of fire fear from the household sims, I’ve even re-trait potion a hot headed sim. I’ve even downloaded the cursed book from the gallery and then destroyed it in the game. Nothing has seemed to work. I have every DLC.
