Game Crashing After Deleting Default Royal Families - Save File Unplayable

Game Version: 1.121.361.1020
PC/Mac: PC (Windows 10)
Packs Installed: All Expansion Packs up to Businesses & Hobbies, most Game/Stuff Packs (see attached list)
Mods Installed: Yes (MC Command Center, UI Cheats, and various others)
Date: February 16, 2026

Issue Description

After deleting several default royal/NPC families from the Manage Worlds screen, my save file has become completely unplayable. The game crashes consistently with a lastException error from MC Command Center.

Steps to Reproduce

1,  Deleted all royal families, 2,Attempted to re-enter the save file, 3,Game crashes to desktop with MC Command Center error

Error Details

The MC Command Center lastException shows:

Recommended ActionNo mods were listed in the exception but you do have mods installed.
Close your game, try removing handfuls of mods from your Mods folder and retry what you did when you received the exception.
If the exception does not occur then the problem is likely with that mod.
Check the mod download for any recent updates.
Possible Cause

(Confidence: 10%)

dynasty_tunings
ReasonException raised while processing zone spin up sequence: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'id' (AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'id')

Observations

  • The error appears related to dynasty/genealogy data being corrupted
  • It seems the game's family tree system cannot handle the removal of certain default households
  • The game tries to process relationships for deleted Sims but finds "null" references

Thank you for testing my save! Let me clarify a few things:

    1. What exactly happens when the game crashes?

When I select the new DLC world from the Manage Worlds screen of the corrupted save, the game closes completely before the loading finishes.

    - With MC Command Center installed:A lastException error pop-up appears right before the game closes.

    - Without any mods: The game still crashes to desktop, and a `lastException` file is generated in my documents folder (the same ones I attached in my previous replies).

    2. How did I create this test save?

I first disabled all other expansion packs  in the game's pack selector, then disabled all custom content and mods  in the in-game settings. After that, I created a brand new save file with only *Royalty & Legacy* active. The only action I took was deleting the default families — no other gameplay.

Just to clarify: the original crash happened when all my expansion packs were active — that's the save where I first deleted the default royal families. The clean test save I sent you was created with only Royalty & Legacy enabled and all mods disabled, just to confirm that the crash isn't caused by mods or other pack content. Hope that helps!

    3. Additional observation:

I've tried loading the save multiple times myself.  Occasionally (1-2 times out of many attempts), I actually succeeded in entering the world. But most of the time, it still crashes. Currently, I have  four identical lastException files  in my documents folder from these attempts.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you need me to test anything else.

By the way,   as *amjoie* noted: if you evict these families from their residences first and then delete them, the bug doesn't trigger. But if you delete them directly from the Manage Households screen, or select the household on the map and hit delete, the bug appears in both old and new saves.

That said, even with the "safe deletion" method, I'm a bit worried that continuing to play might cause trouble down the line. This bug seems to happen because when key characters go missing, a whole chain of relationships breaks, messing up the game's logic. And I've heard this family might include more members than just the ones I deleted — there could be other related characters hidden in the background... feels like trouble might pop up anytime
