While trying to enroll my Sim in university and move them into university housing, the game freezes completely after confirming the transfer. I select the degree, choose university housing (dormitory), transfer household funds in the moving window, and then click confirm. After that, the game becomes completely unresponsive for over 5 minutes and no actions can be performed.
I had to restart my computer manually each time because the game would not recover. This issue occurred three times in a row. After the final attempt, the affected save file could no longer be loaded.
Steps to reproduce:
Open the game and load a household
Apply/enroll a Sim into university
Select a degree and choose university housing/dormitory
Transfer Sim funds in the household split/move window
Confirm the move
Observe the game freezing indefinitely
The game freezes completely after confirming the move. After repeated freezes and forced restarts, the save file becomes unloadable/corrupted. That problem started after newest update, I don't use any mods or CC.
think there's another report for this but I'll check later.
For now could you please pick a thread tag for your mod usage. You said you don't use any but does that mean you never had any or you removed them ?
Have you tested multiple saves/Sims ?
I used mods once, over 1.5 years ago, but they were completely removed afterward. Before the recent update I never experienced this issue — other Sims from this same save had already attended university, even in the exact same dormitory.
This is a multi-generational save. I’ll check whether the same problem happens in other long-term/multi-generational saves as well. At the moment I can’t properly test this specific save anymore because it gets stuck on an infinite loading screen when I try to open it.
I checked, and on the same save, another family, whom I didn't play with before the update, can normally go to college in the student dormitory. So the problem is with my family, which I play in the next generation. Before the update, Sims went to college this way and there was no problem. Today, I can't get my Sim to separate from the family.
Found the other thread and merged. Could you send your save to EA.
