game UNPLAYABLE due to update!

I have been trying to update my Sims since the latest update released, but it is stuck in the download. I've tried restarting my app, clearing cache, uninstalling and reinstalling, repairing my game, logging out and logging back in and nothing has worked. I've taken my mods out and done everything I can think of but NOTHING HAS WORKED!! I really want to get back to playing the game I've invested so much time and money into. Someone from EA Help PLEASE get back to me! I'm playing on a Mac if that's any help.
