I am also having this issue. It happens with every gig. When I first started the career track it was fine but now the gig doesn't update. I've had to exit to main menu and then resume game for the gig info to update. I haven't tried traveling/managing worlds but in terms of time spent waiting for things to load I think it is about the same.
