Same thing is happening to me since the update.
My sim sits in the chair, has her makeup done but not her hair. The stylist's icon remains in her action queue and she gets up and walks away without getting credit toward the work day. Essentially can't complete the workday if I join the sim at her gig. Was working fine before the update.
