Sims start to perform musical numbers when assigned to painting (provided Acting skill allows Perform Musical Number). Clearing cache has no effect, only way to prevent so far has been reducing the Acting skill below threshold via testing cheats.

That's an interesting theory, because my Sim family that is affected by this is also in a Dynasty with the artistic value. Hmmmm..... 🤔
This happened to me, too. I started making my Sim paint. Then she started performing a musical scene and it kept looping.
This is happening to me also. It is with a dynasty that has the artistic ideal, when my sims go to paint or cook. They break out into a musical number.
I'm on Xbox Series X so can't send a save file.
Happening to me too. Even when I take mods out. I even tried making them dislike acting, and now they still perform scenes constantly but just have a buff about how much they hate what they are doing. They perform scenes together or stand at mirrors and just act. It's really frustrating. They'll stop cooking just to go act out a scene.
I have this same issue. I’m on Xbox so no CC or mods. It happens when my Sim is painting or cooking. I have an active Dynasty. Dynasty skills are painting, charisma and fitness. Ideals are artistic, connoisseur and diplomatic. It’s an 8 Sim household 7 sims and one dog. The Sim it is now happening to every time she paints has Acting level 7 and singing 1. Let me know if you would like any other info :)
I'm also having this issue and it's very annoying to tell them to do any task that takes time and they break out into singing or doing scenes. My sim will start doing a comedy scene or musical number while uncovering artifacts, cooking, painting, or even just randomly because they're not currently doing something. It only started affecting the family when I added the artistic ideal to the dynasty.
Maybe they should tune down the frequency that your sim should autonomously do encouraged activities from ideals.
