they do seem to very often have that "i believe in me" high self esteem moodlet, my sim broke off an engagement at his wedding after being cheated on and the confident high self esteem moodlet was overriding all of his angry/upset ones
and I have also seen the moodlet for gaining/losing confidence for adult sims pop up fairly often, i mostly just ignore it but can confirm it is also happening in my game
