I’ve seen this, too, also after alien abduction, and have a workaround: have the invisible Sim take a shower. When they emerge from the shower, they’re visible and clickable again.
This is the same issue I have continuously encountered for years. My sim gets abducted often and is always invisible when he returns. He takes a shower and is visible again. I also have him go to bed. When he changes into his night clothes at that command, he is visible again.
I am not using mods or CC. I have Seasons, Get to Work, StrangerVille, Romantic Garden Stuff, Realm of Magic, My First Pet stuff, Holiday Celebration Pack, Desert Luxe kit, Backyard Stuff, and some bonus in-game content from The Sims. The only time this happens is when my sim is abducted by the aliens. He is not using the rocket.
