Well, I remembered incorrectly. The police station in the lilsimsie save has been edited. I checked on a new save. I was able to interrogate the arrested subject. It took about three tries to get the option to queue, but it finally did.
I presume by your question that the recolored table is the problem. Is it fixable? I've never tried to edit a hidden location. I am NOT a builder. :)

Hi dolldrms1
yes, it's fixable. Do these steps (I'm not a builder either)
On your next visit to the police station, enter the following cheat: bb.enablefreebuild
This should enable build mode (if it doesn't work, also add testingcheats). Now just either change the color of the table or delete the table and re-place it in the default color.

Hello again crinrict
That was the problem. Since I don't usually have an edited police station in a save, I had forgotten about the old thread. I searched before posting but nothing was coming up for me, so I am grateful you remembered and linked the old thread.
In case anyone else runs into this anytime again soon, you do go to work and use bb.enablefreebuild. It isn't necessary to turn on testingcheats first. I used the design tool and selected the first color option choice, which was the correct one. Just for good measure, I changed the color of the chairs back to the original swatch used, too.
I don't see a way to accept your post as a solution in this new (to me) forum, but it was the solution in my save for not being able to interrogate a subject. Thank you so much for your help!

There's no solutions in the new bug forum. It's still a bug that the recolors don't work. I mean you do need to use a cheat to change them but why offer recolors if they don't work.
