In the detective career, the Level 3 Corporal promotion requirement is to interrogate a suspect. If the Sims completes this successfully, the Level 4 Detective promotion requirement to Solve 1 Case is automatically checked off on career panel since the Sim has solved a case. There is no way to complete the requirement for Level 3 Corporal successfully without having the promotion requirement for Level 4 Detective automatically checked off because a successful interrogation leads to a case being solved.
