Household Sims walking through doors locked to them

It is very irritating, I want to give my sims all their own private space which also helps to ensure they only learn the skills I want them to learn, getting exclusive access to those items.

But I don't think a day goes by without privacy being invaded, a sim somewhere entering a part of the house they should not be able to access. Often they are able to move back out when I tell them to, but sometimes they do remember they can't pass through that door when I send them back so then I have to unlock it first.

I have the same issue: sims ignore general locks on doors and gates.

I want one sim to be in charge of gardening, so I tried to lock the gates in the garden to all except this one sim using the "Lock for everyone except This Sim" option.

There are 5 other sims in the same household, going from toddler to YA. All ignore the lock and go through the gate.

I've noticed that, when I use the option "Lock specific sim" from going through a door or gate, the setting appears to hold better, but this has not been consistent.

I've seen the "Lock for everyone" option work, but the one to let one sim use the door or gate doesn't work.

I play on PC, patched to the latest version.

Tested without mods and it happened. With a mod that improves the lock system, it still happens.

I've set doors and gates on their 2 sides and it happens.

I have no business on the lot, it's household sims and NPCs, I don't own Businesses and Hobbies.

  • As of the last update (or so) no locked doors work for household or non-household Sims. Everyone has free range. I've tried all types of combinations.  I stopped inviting Sims in, chatting with them outside the house, only to have the Sims walk right in and do whatever they wished, including taking baths (with bathroom doors restricted to household only). Tested with mods removed/cleared cache/etc.

  • My sims sometimes get stuck behind locked doors that I locked specifically so they wouldn't go in. Every time I have seen this, it's because they wanted to use an appliance that was behind that locked door, even though they could very well use ones that aren't locked off. My sims' rooms have their own bathrooms which I locked so that everyone would use their own part of the house but they somehow bypass the locked doors and then are unable to leave because of said locked doors.

I had this with the cats and dog in my household. It was fine for a bit but then they would enter rooms i had locked for them and couldnt get back out.

  • My toddler is supposed to be baby proofed in the house but he walks straight out.  Locking  the door doesn't work either.
