[HSY] Sims stuck at high school

I have a similar issue after the latest update. I accompanied my sim to school but not got any of the usual UI for school activities. I just assumed it was part of the update. I got invites to class with the note that I  just click on the whiteboard... Then at the end of the day my sim couldn't leave. I reloaded the game , switched to character at home and was still not given the option to leave. I couldn't even click to join after school activity despite it being available. I ended up getting him home from the home lot. Next playthrough I did not join him at high school. The day is over but he is stuck at school according to his icon even though he is back on the lot.
