Infatuate Spell greyed out, says "no valid targets" when there should be plenty

I have a maxed out spellcaster sim who knows the infatuate spell, but no matter who I click on to try to get a sim to have infatuate cast on them, regardless of how many available or compatible sims may be around on the same lot, the spell is greyed out with a message that says "no valid sims to target" and  I do not understand why the spell seems like it has no valid operations in it. I even went as far as to verify that the sims I wished to use it on were single in case preexisting relationships were the issue, and then even checked their romance/woohoo interests to make sure those were compatible enough too but no luck. I think if infatuate is to remain in the game as a spell, it should technically work on anyone since it is magic and magic tends to be an unnatural influence over other gameplay aspects (which is what I find fun, I mean who doesn't like to use Strangify on a romantic rival so the sim of your dreams is repulsed by them? Or even Dedeathify so you don't have to buy a potion or learn to make Ambrosia!?)

I know with Lovestruck romantic ties got more complex and interesting, but I don't think the dynamics change should've completely invalidated the ability for the Infatuate Spell to work- if anything, allowing Infatuate to continue unhindered could make things even more interesting! It could be a blessing and a curse- perhaps the lonely Cringe sim has a Spellcaster BFF that casts infatuate on the most popular Sim at school so she'd ask him to prom, and they remain in love because outside of him being Cringe they are very romantically compatible and end up with generations of children after them thanks to the Spellcaster making the first (unofficial) move? Or a scenario where Eliza and Bob are in therapy to fix things, but a mischievous magical mayhem lover decides Bob should be infatuated with Bella Goth, so he pursues her only to have Eliza get jealous and dump him, and Bella to reject him because she's actually in love with her husband? Alternatively, Bella has also had Infatuate cast on her targeting Bob, so they just end up abandoning both their spouses to be together and after the spell wears off, it is entirely in their hands how that relationship pans out??

Infatuate should at least temporarily override a sim's innate sensibilities regarding romance and attraction, as 1.) it makes gameplay more interesting and 2.) it's magic! Magic tends to overtake the regular laws of the world in game anyway, so why does it completely stop working when it comes to making a sim infatuated for another sim?

I am requesting to have this issue amended so that I can have my Spellcaster hook her besties up so she doesn't have to be the only one of her squad to marry into Royalty (as I do not want to have to go play as her besties' households to orchestrate and work on those relationships. I just want moves to be made without me being 100% in control of them, I just like giving a nudge and the "Talk Up Sim.../Hook Up With..." interactions just aren't cutting it, so I don't know if those are broken too or if those are far more susceptible to failure based on the moods of the sims involved, but my main point here is Infatuate is not working and it needs to.)
