After the update released on July 1st, Edith the Ghost from the Life and Death expansion pack has been replaced by a random Sim, as seen on the videos I shared.
I currently own all packs.
I noticed the problem after Edith appeared in my residential lot when watching the "static" TV channel.
After that, she was MIA.

Edith appears to be a totally different sim, Priscilla. I can interact with this sim just as if it were Edith... try to communicate, ask for mark of Edith, etc.

I also just encountered this problem in game. Edith was replaced by a randomised sim.
When Edith leaves the lot, a random Sim will sometimes spawn at the Well of Longing and Regret in her place, and will have the same interactions as her. When that Sim leaves, Edith may return — or another random Sim may appear instead.
Version 1.118.242.1030 (PC)
For verification, I deleted the Sims 4 folder from Documents, repaired the game through the EA app, and started a new game.
Random NPC Sim will no longer replace Edith.
Fixed in Patch 1.119.109/2.23
