Hi ik this is much later but I was having the same issue where souls were not spawning on the lots but the netherworld fissure were!
I then clicked on the NPC sims cus they were kind of just standing around and I had the option to collect their souls(w/ different styles like flamboyant).
So my suggestion if you don’t see the soul pearls, check to see if any of the nearby NPC sims are able to be collected. Not sure if it’s a glitch or what but I basically killed 5 sims instantly by collecting their souls.
Yeah, I just had this issue. No ghosts on lot, but there were a group of five non-ghost "living" sims--three of them premades, including Aeris Chavis-Ralston--who had an option of being reaped.
I do understand that they are just pixels, and also I was previously asked to reap Mimsy and Bernard and they appear to be fine and showed up on other lots later. That said, no, I will not reap a living sim child. Yikes. No.
Luckily UI cheats cleared the task for me and I was able to continue.
