If you have a sim talk about any skills listed under hobbies or interests, the other sim will learn that your sim has those skills. Enthuse about fitness, acclaim about archery, share vampire knowledge and so forth. There are a few that I don't think have any discussion for, but they are generally learned about by discussing interests, deep thoughts and by demonstration. So maybe try showing pet tricks to someone. I can't say 100% that this works but I believe that has been my experience.
If you have had your sim discuss a topic from one of those categories and the other sim did not learn that they have the skill, you might want to report that individually since one being a problem doesn't mean that they all are. It can be tedious work for sure but I think you will get better results trying to get help that way. Best of luck to you :)
Nightgypsy The issue isn't that it's hard to make it happen. It's that the code to make it happen doesn't exist, so it can't happen. Unless you're saying that you've had sims learn about your sim's pet training skill (in an unmodded game), in which case I'd love to be wrong.

Honestly I have not really paid much attention to that one so I don't know. That is why I suggested showing off your pet tricks to a sim and see if they learn that your sim has the skill that way. Since I don't think I have seen any options to discuss that skill, maybe that would work. I would be curious to know if it does :)
