Then I moved the sgr file to Override (empty folder) and the game didn’t work, it crashed on startup.
Yep, you can work around that. It's explained in the post I linked.
Let me know how you get on with the clean folder with only that one save copied into it.

I tried generating a completely fresh folder and the problem persists
