After reaching a corrupted state yesterday and quitting without saving, I today was able to reproduce it again, and this time saved just before, and then again during corruption with a "save as" copy. Happy to share my save files with the devs. I reproduced it again also without mods, on PC.
This issue is without having any residential rentals in my save, and it did not matter what family I loaded or if I went into just build mode from managed worlds into the neighbourhoods, they were always showing default buildings, once I had reached a certain amount of heavier buildings in my save (nothing crazy but nice gallery builds that have a low-medium amount of decoration). It also did not matter which buildings I placed, i reproduced it with totally different ones again and in different neighbourhoods. It seems like a max limit of objects within a save file to me.
Learnings:
- It seems like replacing some simple builds with heavier builds was enough to reach the max limit that seems to corrupt the save file, as I had the same amount of builds in the save before and after reaching corruption ( = all lots built out in all existing worlds of all packs there are up until and including Adventure Awaits)
- I did not have any residential rentals in my save, it seems to be just a max amount of objects, which may be amplified with residential rental use, but is not required to achieve it
- When I placed my last bigger build that pushed me over the limit, I was seeing ALL neighbourhoods with default buildings, except the building i was loading into. I could test this even just in build mode from manage worlds, so the testing doesnt require loading into Willow Creek as I thought before, it will be broken everywhere I load into build mode.
- Deleting some builds made the neighbourhoods go back to normal again after they had already corrupted, which is one more indication that there is a max limit
- I wonder if the similar issue, that adjacent apartments are becoming completely empty when loading into an apartment is related, it seems like a similar problem, but I had this before reaching this full corruption state.
=> This sadly leads to the terminal fact that I can't buy any DLC with worlds anymore, as that will push my beloved save over the limit. It also makes me realise that starting from zero again will ultimately end up in the same result, so there seems to be no way out of this issue :(
I really hope the devs can fix this, as this is the only game I play and the only save file I played since 2020, I'm so sad :(

Something similar happened to me just two days ago!
I was building a new forever save completely from scratch — no mods or CC — and guess what? It got corrupted once the save reached around 50 MB. I only noticed the corruption because all the neighboring buildings started reverting to their default versions.
What’s interesting this time is that the corrupted lots weren’t in Willow Creek, but in Gibbi Point and Tomarang instead.
In Gibbi Point, I couldn’t access the 40x40 playground lot at all — it would just get stuck in an infinite loading screen.
But when I visited the surrounding lots, they were all showing up as default, even though I had already replaced them. Strangely enough, after I deleted the nearby 64x64 lot, I was finally able to access the 40x40 playground lot again.
But then, whenever I changed any other lot in Gibbi Point — even something small like building a single wall — the playground lot got corrupted again and became inaccessible. The only way I managed to fix it was by deleting all the lots in Gibbi Point (even in different neighborhoods). After doing that, the 40x40 lot became accessible again.
As for Tomarang, it’s basically at a point of no return. I can’t fix it at all — not even with Sims4Studio. Just like Gibbi Point, there’s one 20x15 lot there that I simply can’t access anymore.
And the same thing that happened in Gibbi Point also happened in Tomarang. Deleting all the lots in Tomarang made the broken one accessible again, but as soon as I started building on any other lot in that world, it became inaccessible once more.
At this point, I’m starting to believe this issue is actually linked to the maximum capacity of items per world — not just the residential rental cap, but the total number of items in general. It might even relate to the complexity of each lot, depending on how many different object types are used.
So now I’m stuck with two options: either start a brand-new save from scratch or just play something else. It’s really unfortunate, because I spent weeks building this new save file only to lose it during the process. The saddest part is that you never know when a save is about to break — it only becomes clear once the surrounding buildings start reverting to their default versions.
I still have the save file available if any dev wants to take a look at it. :(

Hi crinrict!
I`m not using One Drive.
Here follows my save file (do I need to send it to an especific person?): TS4 SAVE FILEAnd I recorded a video to showcase the bug:

ceunon20 I think starting from scratch doesn't make sense, you'll just end up in the same situation after months of work of rebuilding everything again :( Unless you are happy with a play style of only using a few worlds at a time.. For me that takes out the whole fun, I love to make all worlds perfect and then play in them.. 😢
But you could potentially choose a few neighbourhoods you don't like that much and try to bulldoze those in a copy of your save, to see if this would impact your broken lots in Tomarang and Gibbi gibbi. For me it made a difference, no matter where i deleted lots from.
Did you by any chance try the new Memory Boost mode on your corrupted save? I'm about to try it on mine, to see if it has any impact, as I read some tweet of someone saying it brought back their reverted lots. I really hope the devs are already on a good path to fixing it, as this will happen to anyone who owns more and more DLC.

I tried the new Memory Boost, and for some unknown reason, I lost all of my small businesses afterward - lol but also not really funny.
This seems similar to what happened to crinrict a few days ago (as they mentioned in another post) after activating the feature and suddenly losing all their lots and Sims from a save. In my case, I didn’t have a backup at the time because I was still building my worlds and focusing on Gibbi Point. I only realized something was wrong when I returned to Nordhaven and noticed that all my small businesses were gone - not just there, but across all worlds. Fortunately, the lots themselves didn’t get corrupted, but I now have to rebuild everything from scratch.
Something you said really makes sense: not many players experience this bug. Not because it can’t happen to them, but because most people don’t play across every world. Many players tend to start new saves before the issue has time to build up - or they simply don’t own all the packs. So the problem never reaches a critical point for them.
I realized this after seeing a poll on X where a simmer asked how many people actually build or play in worlds like Newcrest, Tomarang, etc. The results were eye-opening - around 80% of players had no lots in Newcrest and had never even visited places like Magnolia Promenade, Tomarang or Chestnut Ridge.
So unfortunately, I don’t think this bug will ever be properly addressed. EA/The Sims/Maxis usually prioritizes bugs that affect the majority of players, and this one seems to only hit those of us who really go deep into world-building.
