I'm having this same exact issue.
When I load into a lot, all the neighboring houses either show up as empty lots or display the default versions that come with the game. The lot I’m actually playing loads correctly, and the thumbnails on the map are also fine. There’s no endless loading screen (which happened with my previous save — that one got corrupted, so I started fresh).
This started happening after I placed several lots, but based on known bugs, I’m pretty sure it’s related to a residential rental lot, idk which one since I have multiple. The issue appears across multiple worlds — I tested it in Oasis Springs, Willow Creek, and Newcrest.
I prefer playing on a long-term “forever save,” and I’ve already put a lot of time into this one after losing the last to the infinite loading bug. So yeah, I’m really frustrated and hoping this gets fixed soon.
For reference, I play on PC with mods, and I’m fairly certain this is connected to the For Rent pack.
Did you try out the memory boost option on this broken save? In my case this brought back my houses!
I've tried the memory boost option with direct 11, it helped shortly but then it came back s:
Oh noo, I was hoping it will stay recovered when using memory boost, but haven't tried playing on it for multiple days yet. Do you remember what you did that made it break again while still on memory boost? Or did you switch memory boost off afterwards?
When I tested I placed a few big builds after memory boost recovered mine, just to test if it would survive a few more castles being added to my save - and it was working without breaking again, but I didn't end up playing on memory boost, as it is still in Early Access (and we don't know if it is safe yet).
For my own corrupted main save I chose to delete over 20 lots and apartments that I was more rarely using, to offset the threshold that makes the save corrupt. So far it didn't re-corrupt yet, but I am missing my lot spaces :(
