I just got the Island Living pack and have made a mermaid sim. But I can't get her to swim in the ocean. Or any sim. Even the NPCs don't seem to swim in the ocean. I am wondering if I accidently turned it off somehow, but I can't find a setting anywhere.
I have tried diving from a ladder spot, and the sim walks up and just doe the 'can't path here' wave and bubble.
I'm sadddddd I wanted to play with mermaidssssss
Same! I uninstalled the game and reinstalled but nothing works.
I have the same issue. I've had the Island Living pack for years but now after coming back to the game after taking a break, my mermaids suddenly can't swim in the ocean anymore. There's just no way to click on the water for the option to appear.
My sims can't perform any actions in the water. No snorkeling, swimming, diving, boating or anything. The only interaction available is at the waters edge - you can still "gather water" or "wade in water." Nothing else works though so there are whole sections of Sulani that can't be reached because the sims have to swim to them. Plus mermaids keep drying out because they can't get in the ocean.
I should also mention that a couple days ago, I just thought about this, I was on vacation in Sulani and i couldn’t get my sim to swim in the ocean. I could click on the buoy but I couldn’t get on the boat, the Aqua zip or swim in the ocean. I’m quite frustrated to be very honest.
Can't get my sim to swim in the deep ocean in Sulani, nor can I use any of the bouy's actions.
Swimming is still broken, the latest patch didn't fix swimming.
I followed your instructions, cabahug_abigail , and it worked. My Sims character was able to swim.
However, after I finished, before entering the game, the game notified me that 2 packs were missing (as shown in the attached picture). I tried re-downloading the missing add-on packs, and it turned out my Sims character couldn't swim again.
I'm not sure if this will help, but I hope The Sims 4 will get fixed soon. We pay money to play this game, and we hope to get enjoyment and value for the money we've spent. Thank you very much for your hard work, EA_Solaire (I'm not sure if you're part of the EA team, but you're the only one I've seen responding to questions, so please allow me to address you this way).
All of the water, even the deep water in Jellyfish Junction has been coded shallow water.
Swimming and water activities are major features of worlds like Sulani and Gibbi Point, so having those features stop working is disappointing and frustrating.
For anyone still experiencing this, there is an official EA bug report thread tracking the issue here:
If you are able, please consider voting on the report, adding a comment to the bug report, and sharing a save file with EA. The more examples EA receives, the easier it will be for them to investigate and reproduce the problem.
When commenting, helpful details to include are:
• Game version and platform
• Whether you have mods/CC installed
• Whether the issue occurs in a new save
• Which worlds or water areas are affected
• What happens when you try to swim or use watercraft
• Whether NPC Sims are also unable to swim or use watercraft
Thank you, and I hope this helps!
