Not in a rental (never been with this family), not on a cursed lot.
Everything from the spotlights on the ceiling to outside balconies have been on fire. Fire fighters seem to have routing error as there was no access to balcony and they can't reach the ceiling fires.

My Sim is living on a residential rental lot but I have not done the cursed book event.
I've had the same problem for a while now. There are random fires in the game that don't necessarily destroy anything, but they make the Sims stressed. It's starting to get annoying because there have been three of these fires today...
Are others having this same problem, or is this just a problem with my game?
KangTeuk86 Is your sim living in a residential rental? If so, have you had the Cursed Book event? If not, what lot traits does the lot have? There are several master bug reports about various kinds of fires, with different causes.
no, they dont live in residental rental.
Fires occur on different plots, not even on the same one. The traits of the plots are different on these different plots, but they are quite standard.
Mine is a toilet too. The same bathroom each time. It's not a re tal but I have For Rent installed. No cursed object. Just the same toilet 3 times caught fire. No fire sources in bathroom or any adjacent wall. I do have a sprinkler that goes off overhead.
Same happens here.
My sims have lived in a rental unit previously, but after all of the random fires and other events, I moved them out to a regular residential lot. But the random fires keep happening. Spotlights, the VIP bucket, flower decorations. It’s very random what catches fire, though sometimes it happens in the same spot.

And since it has been asked before, no this is not a residential rental, I do not even own For Rent. It is a residential lot with the Cursed and Creepy Crawlies traits (Asylum, so...) It used to have Hallowed Grounds, but I had a problem with a stuck scared moodlet that would never go away, without travelling to a different lot, (a nono for the Asylum challenge) so i took it off a long time ago. I understand that Cursed can increase the chance of fire, but like.... on stoves and stuff, not random ceiling lights?
