I am also getting this issue.

My sim had the painter extrodinaire aspiration and has created many masterpiece paintings and none have triggered the count on the aspiration. It is still sitting at 0/5. All different types of paintings eg Abstract, Impressionist, Sad painting.

I'm on Xbox so no mods.
