Paintings go white after putting them in inventory/Reloading game (1.119.109)

Was hoping they fixed this too with patch 1.119.109 but nope. Reposting from the old thread here:

The blank Paint by Reference Canvas is very easy reproducible since 1.117.227 (maybe even before that):

1) Use Paint from Reference to paint a new Painting.
2) After the Sim finishes it, move the Painting into the Sims Inventory.
3) From there move it out and on a Wall = White Painting.
4) Drag it to another part of the Wall, Painting is ok again.
5) Save, exit to Main Menu, reload and Painting is White again. Even moving it around the Wall does not fix it as it seems.

Hope this will get fixed asap.

EDIT: I have all Packs except the last Make Up Kit, in case that is important.

I have a legacy save going since 2020 ando was very fortunate that it wasn’t contaminated by the NeverNude bug. It was affected by the corrupted onsen that makes expeditions to Mt. Komorebi impossible, though.

Once the NeverNude bug was corrected, I thought about going back to that save file, but then realized that it would jeopardize the paintings of several generations in the household.

Yeah, even when bugs are corrected they still let us down by affecting only new saves. 😟 Paintings that were lost will probably never be recovered.

  • Happens for me since the last patch in my legacy game. Never had any issues with this before.

I have discovered this is happening more frequently now.  I recently saved about ten paintings from reference in my sims inventory.  When I loaded the game again, all but one were white.

  • Paint from reference does not work properly. When you paint from reference it seems to work at first. You're able to take a picture and then paint the picture and the painting shows up as intended. After you have saved your game and reload your save the painting has gone blank.

Playing around with it I noticed that the picture goes blank straight away if I move it in and out of the sim's inventory. But the painting shows up again if you keep replacing the painting on the wall. You could also sometimes see the painting in sim's inventory but when moved on to a wall it would go blank. When moving in and out of the lot in game the painting would not go blank. Only after reloading the save.

Other paintings work fine! The issue is only with paintings painted from reference. Seems like the picture taken for the painting is not saving properly.

Happens 100% of the time and happens both in new & old saves and with no mods.

Hope this would get fixed as it is such a cool feature!

Just did a paint by reference on sketchpad for a freelancer gig, and it was blank when I pulled it out of inventory and put it on the wall.

  • I have the same problem. When the painting is selected, the thumbnail in the lower right corner  (the one with item name and price) also still has image, but it showed blank canvas on the wall.

Already tried saving the room with painting to My Library but don't work. If looked at from Library, the painting is obviously still has image, but when the room is placed in the house, the result is a blank canvas.

I just started playing again after a few months hiatus. Currently, I have 5 paintings from reference. Four paintings from a few months ago, which last I played there was no problem. Now, those paintings showed the image but the price suddenly dropped and fluctuated (from a few hundred to a few thousand) every time I moved them to different spots on the wall.  The last painting was newly created and it became blank canvas every time I reload the game, I have tried painting 3 times and still the same problem.

I've tried MANY things. I'm currently at a point where I believe the issue lies either within a sims pack or within the core base game itself.

Things I have tried so far:

    • Just "saving" instead of "save & exit"
    • Framing and/or naming the canvas
    • Deleting the localthumbcache.package EVERY single time I tested
    • Remove mods, try with just packs & base game, same thing happened
    • Try to save the room the paintings are in and re-load the room.
      • This is a WHOLE new issue in itself too- i can't even save the room more than half the time. Any room really. I tried to save the painting room 5 different times, only ONCE did it actually save the room, and that time was without the painting being in the room. I tried saving it 2 other times without the painting in the room and I couldn't get it to save those 2 other times. I really don't know what caused it to save that one singular instance.
    • Load up a completely new, fresh save with no mods and packs only
    • Repair my game

I added an attachment with packs I DON'T own. This seems like such a major bug and I've seen it around for about 2 months now, what gives?

I've had this issue since the August update. I've tried everything I can find online to try and then some. The "fix" to save it to a gallery doesn't work either as it's still blank when you place it. I literally only have the base game installed as I can't play my family where I've painted each age of each generation. Even with only the base game installed, it's still blank after any save, exit combo.
