[PS/XB] [CD] Can't enter dog breed name

When sims families randomly adopt pets and you go into CAS it won’t let you out, claiming I need to put their breed. No way to get out 

In cas by the check mark and X is a little dice button. Click that and it will cycle you through different breeds. It will NOT change or mess up your pet, other than clothing. Once you have what you feel is the appropriate breed name, fix their clothing/collar and you should be able to save and move on as usual.

*****I am editing this post because I just came from an NPC household and when I followed these steps it DID change the pet looks and breed rather than just assigning a breed. I researched and found the above steps when I had this same issue and it worked for me without changing how my pet looked. I don't know if something has changed or it was a one off or what. So if you don't want to risk your pet changing do not use the above method.****

I'm surprised this is not a topic anywhere. For years PETS has had an issue with preexisting pets in a household preventing any updates while in CAS. It is not just Cats & Dogs, horses are also affected by this issue.

When selecting a household where a pet has been adopted into, while not playing the household, the BREED TYPE is missing and will not allow for any changes in CAS. The breed type can't be selected or updated which prevents any updates or changes to be made while in CAS so you have to exit without the edits being saved. This needs to be fixed! I would say urgently but it's been years now. 

To work around the issue, I have to always get rid of any pets that were in the household which causes the Sims in household to be sad for days.

There is no issue for active households that adopt pets.

Don't worry, I have a hard time finding stuff a lot myself. You should add your post to that discussion and don't forget to upvote it as the issue is under investigation.  

 I assume it's a controller problem because I can type in that box with keyboard after I click there with a mouse on ps5.

I am on a pc and I can't type in the box either. So I think your controller is fine.
