[PH] [CD] Pets gain character values after interactions

I have noticed when my sim interacts with a pet, sometimes the pet will have the thing above its head indicating it has gained one of the character values from Parenthood. I also see this happening with adult sims, which I am unclear whether that is intended or the character values should "freeze" after reaching adulthood. It does not seem like the sim or pet in question actually increases or decreases the character value shown, but it pops up after relevant interactions regardless.

I have all packs except Batuu, and this occurs with and without mods.
