Ideas
OK, so I'm finding this new forum very confusing so please bear with me! I have read the linked thread above but it didn't help me with this query.
There is a bug that is still listed as OPEN in the Bug Reports - Archived part of this new forum that I'm tracking ([PH] Sims Not Gaining Character Values When Aging From Teen to YA) as it has affected my gameplay once and I'm concerned it will affect my legacy family as they age.
The part I'm confused about is that although the bug report in the Archive says it is open, the post is locked so no one can add any further comments and the post doesn't have a set status like the ones outlined by EA_Cade. Is this then the current report as there is no link in this post to a new report in the new bug report forum? I did try to search the new bug forum for it but couldn't find anything.
If the archived report is the current report (and this question applies to all old unresolved bug reports in the Archive), how can players add any further information to potentially help the sims team out if comments are locked? Are we meant to start a new bug report thread if we have new info?
Also an unrelated question, I see references to QV in some of the forum posts explaining how the forum works but have no idea what the abbreviation stands for - who are QV?!
Many thanks!

Bugs that are in the archive are generally still open unless they were fixed at some point but nothing can be added to them cause all the bug report is now done in the new bug forum. I know it's confusing but it has to do with the kind of board the new forum is. It's different from the other boards and hence stuff could not be merged. The statuses are exclusive to the new bug forum cause they can only be set to in the forums of that new type.
The bugs in the Archive are still very much on EA's plate and being looked into and it's in no one's interest if every bug report in the archive is re-reported cause that causes a lot of unnecessary work for everyone involved.
The rule of thumb is: You don't need to make a new report there unless one of these apply.
- You have additional information to add (not just: I have this too)
- The bug thread in the archive has little to none engagement. Unfortunately you can't see the me toos that were there but the amount of posts usually is an indicator
- The thread is still very old and didn't have any engagement in say 2 years. I do think it's worth re-reporting these but that's a borderline case
When something IS re-reported, I will put the thread in the archive on [ARCHVIED] and link the current new thread. There are some that do have a new thread but I haven't done that because they were reported before the migration and I didn't go backwards unless the thread was bumped. Also lots of manual work. The thread you pointed out doesn't have a new thread as far as I'm aware.
QV stands for Quality Verification and is basically what used to be called QA (Quality Assurance) and is the Maxis team in charge of checking this forum and fixing bugs.
Let me know if you have further questions or if that clears it up.
