My Sim got a scandal and when it got to the end of the timer it reset twice, and now the number of days is changing incorrectly - an apology was accepted and the timer went up from 17 days to 139 days.
NPC scandals have also remained stuck with the timer fluctuating massively.
I've repaired the game, deleted the 'localthumbcache' and nothing is working.

Same here! It keeps increasing in length and wont go away! So frustrating!!! Mine got down to 4 days and then bumped up to 16 days twice now. What to do, EA?!?

Could you please provide the following information
- Are you using mods/cc in your game ? Please remove them and test without them if you do.

I'm having exactly the same issues and I play on Ps5

Bump! Experiencing the same issue, sim received moodlet "Unfair Affair" after being exposed in a cheating scandal. The original moodlet was 9 days, same in the notebook.
Next day my sim travelled and the moodlet changed to a different higher number around ~16. The tooltip in the notebook stays correct. Throughout the course of the game, the number kept changing, especially triggered by travelling it seems. There is a third indicator I noticed much later on, which is when you hover over the sim and see the count there too. That one just does its own thing entirely; it's currently at over 300 days, but hit over 1.5k at some point. The moodlet itself remains smaller; still hit something like 80 days at some point. The moodlet itself is fixed if changing the sim in the mirror, but does go awry when the sim moves anywhere.
I have mods and I am not ready to get rid of them at the moment, though they are minimal, but on the sims reddit I saw quite a few people having the same issue, some confirming without mods. Posting this to raise awareness of the issue

My Sim's secret was exposed, and I received a moodlet that was supposed to last 9 days, the scandal. But when those 9 days ended, instead of the moodlet disappearing, it changed to 16 days, then 33 days, and it keeps increasing. I've already tried going to the computer to write apologies or deny accusations, but it only gets worse and keeps increasing, and the scandal never ends. This is happening to my Sim and other NPCs in scandals.

I'm having the same and I play in console so no mods, and also that purple cloud never goes away even if I deactivate the scandal system

Tried and solved!
1.Make them be caught in another scandal.
2. Release Scandal
3. Then go more choices, more choices until you you see " Toggle the floating scandal cloud effect off/on".

It happens to my sim too! I also drank a negative moodlet dissolver potion and it disappeared for only a few hours and then it reappeared

I also have this issue. Deactivating scandals in game play does nothing. The only option on the Scandal on the computer is to buy a secret. The moodlet has expired but the cloud will not go.

same issue. no mods installed. is frustrating to keep having the stupid purple scandal cloud popping up. scandal cleared has ZERO minutes now, but won't clear off.

to be sure you have the same issue, do you just have the purple cloud or also still the moodlets and changing days ?

Hi! I had this same problem, no mods, repaired game, etc. I ended up buying the moodlet solver drink from the aspiration rewards, and it disappeared! Also- for others commenting, you can turn off the scandal purple clouds by clicking on the sim, similar to the fame shine toggle.
Annoying bug that I hope they fix soon, but hope this helps for now! - ForgottenComet16 days agoNew Observer
It seems that this bug happens when you play on long lifespan. I have switched to normal lifespan and the duration is decreasing correctly.
- ForgottenComet16 days agoNew Observer
But even if you switch to normal lifespan, the moodlet still stays even though the duration has ran out! It stays at 0 minutes and when you hover over your sim it says that they have a scandal with 0 minutes remaining. When you exit and reload the save, the moodlet goes away but the purple scandal cloud still stays around the sim and does not go away!

I have the same issue. The moodlet timer resets at 3 days (of 5) remaining back to 5. The scandal (kissed a frog) is still activ in the note book too.
I don't have any mods installed either and I started this safe file after deleting all mods and repairing the game. - strandme13 days agoNew Traveler
Okay, I thought I was going mad. I have a new baby, irl. i have limited time to play and I've been battling this freaking scandal for 3 days (irl days). It wasn't even a bad scandal, but she's literally been dealing with it for 2 weeks so far...it was supposed to last 5 days.
Every time I restart the game or there's a loading screen, the scandal timer resets. I finally had it down to 2 days and had to restart my computer. She's back to 5 days!!! I've HAD IT!!!! I'm f__king done with the scandals. I don't have time for this. It's interrupting the gameplay I want to be doing.
How bad should she feel about woohooing in public? An act between 2 consenting adult sims. Should she wear a hair shirt, scarlet letter, and self-flagellate? What kind of uptight sim society is this?!
Never used mods or CC w this game save.
