In my save file, I’ve noticed that Sims especially switch dynasties if their father belongs to a different one. For example, I have a Sim whose parents are divorced. She had always belonged to the same dynasty since birth, the one ruled by her mother (she’s even the heir), but now the game automatically moves her to the dynasty her father joined after remarrying — a dynasty she had never belonged to before. And her father isn’t even the ruler of that dynasty; his second wife is, since she founded it.
The same thing happened with one of Cordelia’s sons. He married Amarachi Darong and joined her dynasty. They had three children who were all born into that dynasty, but now both he and the three children are suddenly listed under the Thebes dynasty.
For the first case, I tested removing the father from his wife’s dynasty so that he belonged to no dynasty at all, since he’s not an important character anyway. As soon as I did that, the daughter went back to the correct dynasty — her mother’s. If there is no father, the game also automatically places them in the mother’s dynasty.
So my conclusion, in case it helps EA fix the issue, is this: Sims are reverting back to the dynasties of their parents even after marrying into another dynasty or founding a completely new one themselves. However, if the parents belong to different dynasties, the game always prioritizes the father’s dynasty. They only revert to the mother’s dynasty if the father does not exist, is dead, or does not belong to any dynasty.
In my save, Jonny Zest is married with Beatrice Capp. Their 3 children and Jonny are in the Capp dynasty, but after 12 may Zest is in Landraab and Capp dynasties. Children are only in Capp dynasty.
