So I had my sim ask to join the correct dynasty and now he and the daughter are in the correct dynasty again. I have not shut down the game yet to see if it reverts back but for now all is as it should be....for that household. It's a legacy rotational save so I'm assuming I have to go around and fix all the families.
Would like to hear how that went! Hearing about this bug has kept me in offline mode to prevent updating the patch :( I'd like to do the event though so I might just go ahead and update it soon anyways.
