I am experiencing this same issue with my Sims who like Afrobeats, exactly as outlined by BlagultSimmer. They get the "listen to Alternative" want, but actually doing that doesn't fulfill the want. I have multiple Sims who like Afrobeats and only Afrobeats music.
I do have one Sim who likes both Afrobeats and Alternative music, and I've seen her get two "listen to Alternative" wants at the same time. Listening to Alternative makes one of them go away, and even exiting out of the action and trying again won't make the second go away.
