Hmm, that's a good question! My business was open, so it could have been a visitor of the business, will have to check next time and find out if there is a visual clue if they are sick with this ailment,

I assume this feature was meant to only happen at the sick Sim's home, not to follow them everywhere they go, otherwise this can lead to chaos very quickly (especially as they are also highly contagious).. I think it happening outside of home and in community lots is already a buggy behaviour,

No one visiting. I checked everyone who I could think of, and even the last sim who had the gnome ailment had gotten over it by then, and also was never on the lot. I do have mods, but none that interact with the gnomes or holidays. I've updated everything but my Kuttoe mods, as those have not yet been updated.

Nope, no visitors to my apartment. I have my unit set to "private dwelling" to repel people. Gnomes just show up and behave as if I purposely bought and enchanted them. I thought they were only supposed to occur when you purchased them yourself, and enchanted them for your personal use (and thereby triggering the evil gnome). I didn't expect for them to occur outside of the ailment and the holiday gnomes tradition. And I certainly didn't expect for the evil gnome to just show up without any provocation on my behalf lol

I had a gnome spawn on the scientist career lot (in the lab). Perhaps one of my sim's colleagues was sick with the corresponding ailments. They were all sick with something, including my sim!

I'm having the same issue.  It seems to me that sims even walking near my house (where the game apparently thinks it's "my" lot) who have the Gnome Lure ailment will cause gnomes to spawn in my house, and they are usually the evil sort.  It happens way too frequently and is now totally annoying instead of occasionally mildly amusing.  This needs to be fixed, please!
