After using the antique nesting blocks, this item will randomly disappear leaving an ash mark that goes through rugs/flooring. I also cannot delete the mark or clean it up, but I cannot place anything where the blocks used to be.

Does it only happen if you have them on a rug ? Do you also have it with the other nesting blocks ?
Is it after the infant is using them ?
I have had this problem twice now with the antique nesting blocks. They were not placed on a rug. And were in different locations when it happened. The object bugs out and it is like it becomes invisible. Except the grey shadow marks. As stated by OP you cannot place items on this spot. The only way I could fix it was by building a basement under the room and having a staircase exit this basement in the spot the blocks were. This ‘forced’ the blocks into my house inventory. I could then remove the staircase and everything was fine.
The blocks had been used multiple times by infant/toddler before this happened on both occasions I believe the swatch used both times though was solid black (don’t quote me on that part though)
the blocks that ended up in my inventory has a bugged/invisible icon as well. Sorry I don’t have screenshots.
also resizing the room/walls etc did not work. Only the basement/staircase solution worked.
Are you playing in DX9 or DX11 ?
This is happening in my game also using dx11. I got rid of them by building a wall through the grids. They moved into my household inventory. Still invisible, but no longer taking up space on the floor.
Building a wall through the grid where the blocks are located worked for me.
when a toddler builds a tower using the antique blockd from storybook nursery kit, and the tower falls, it used the normal building blocks textures
i have a bug where when the tower gets build and then falls, the falling animation uses the basic block textures

I'm also having this issue. I deleted the room that the blocks were in and that got rid of the shadow.
