Agreed!! It's ridiculous considering they're advertising it both when you open the EA app AND quite a few times on the menu screen! It's utterly ridiculous, makes me consider downloading those ad-blocker mods just to stop all the pop-ups T^T

Every time I try playing without mods again (I played vanilla for many years but it just gets old dealing with cheats to fix issues all the time), I realize that I might as well continue using them because of how invasive and annoying EA has become. Half the time I play offline to avoid the ads and such, which then affects my game counter. I don't really care about that at this point, though, since it's just too annoying otherwise. I also am getting tired of playtesting for free, and I suspect a lot of simmers are getting to this point as well. Why should I remove mods and play how they want me to, just to report bugs? Maybe if I was getting packs for free I wouldn't be so mad, but I've obviously paid a lot (like most people here) to play a GAME. It should be fun, not annoying and making people rage-quit.
