Sims are not moving/Freezing/Animation problems (after Patch 1.112)
My sims either won't follow a command (just stand there) or they "do" it without actually moving. For example, they will go to sleep without getting into bed. I've linked to a video to better explain. As you can see from the video this is without mods/cc installed. I play on an M1(2020) Mac.
Everytime loading screen end, your sim will froze and cannot move for a few minutes and then it start moving again after few minutes. Even though game speed at 1x, sims will froze while the time still ticking. And it start working again after a minute or two. This is frustating because I need to wait a minute or two everytime after loading screen 😡
Basically I'll tell him and do an interaction and then they'll Just Dance so I can have my Sim interact with another Sim and then those two Sims will just start dancing randomly like the little two step
Hey everyone, I’m really stressed and hoping someone can help me out. My game has been completely unplayable since the most recent Sims 4 update, and I’ve done just about everything I can think of to fix it.
💥 The Problem:
When I assign my Sims to do something (like sleep or eat), they do the interaction while standing still.
For example, I’ll tell a Sim to go to bed, and they’ll “sleep” standing up — not in the bed, just frozen in place doing the action.
They also randomly start dancing, even when there’s no music or stereo.
It’s not a mod issue — I completely emptied my Mods folder, including CC, scripts, furniture, and clothes.
I even tested on a brand new save file with a brand new household. Still broken.
🧪 What I’ve Tried:
Deleted localthumbcache.package
Removed all mods and CC (folder is literally empty)
Repaired the game through the EA App
Cleared cache folders
Removed custom lots, Sims, and old saves
Tested in base game only — same problem
🧩 Additional Context:
This started happening after the most recent Sims 4 update.
Even with no mods or CC, my Sims still don’t move to perform interactions — they just do them in place like they’re broken.
🆘 Is This Happening to Anyone Else?
I’m trying to work on a story save, but it’s become impossible to play. I’m worried my entire game is corrupted beyond repair. At this point, I’m wondering:
Is this a known bug from the recent update?
Is this a problem with the EA App or manual installs?
Do I need to fully uninstall the game and reinstall it clean?
Any fixes that actually worked for anyone else?
I’d appreciate any advice. This is making me not even want to open the game anymore 😩
This has started happening in my game as well. Only twice so far but it has happened. No mods or cc. In one my sim was just standing there, or so I thought. I didn't know he was stuck and told him to do a couple of things and before I knew it they were completed and he was still standing there. I had to reset him twice and then he vanished and I found him in the house in the area I had been trying to send him to. So there was nothing I could screenshot to show you.
In the above pics you can see that it says the child is at school, only he is not. He is standing in the spot where he would have vanished when entering the rabbithole. I noticed that he had a chilled affect on him so I clicked him and told him to switch into cold weather clothes and he did. Then he went in the house and did things, and when it was time for school to be over the away icons went off from his portrait and I was able to access his inventory again and such. That is all I have on this for now.
Just had it happen again as part of another problem I was reporting. It looks like the child is standing there but he went to bed as you can see on active sim. '
I reset them all and they landed all over the house. But they still would not move. Then I reset the toddler that was still in bed just to see what would happen, and boom, the travel screen popped up immediately. I was able to travel them, the adults and oldest child, to the local park. Sent the child home and traveled adults to planet honeypop successfully.
UPDATE: Movie Hangouts is what's causing these issues for me! I opened File Explorer, scrolled down and opened "This PC", then "Local Disc", then "Program Files", then "EA Games", then "The Sims 4", and I removed the file "SP05", which is the Movie Hangouts pack. I put the file into a different folder and cleared all game caches again. When I opened my game, my sims and townies were behaving normally again. I made sure that it was THAT specific pack by isolating the packs in batches. If anyone else is having this issue, I hope this works for you. Just know that this will uninstall Movie Hangouts from your game.
