Sims date ends due to 'too many mean or mischievous interactions'

I recently purchased Lovestruck and was asked on my sims first date. The activities I added were to Be Friendly, Reminisce, Drink, Eat, and Be Funny. They sat down, ordered a drink each, and talked about the weather, told a funny story, and told a joke about fashion. Their drinks hadn't even arrived yet, they had the 3 friendly and funny interactions mentioned, and my date got up and immediately left due to "too many mean or mischievous interactions", even though none were performed.
