I believe this is the same issue
Sims who are alive and show up in the family tab of the relationship panel are not on the family tree at all, in the case below their mom/my sims sister died, which seems to have caused her to vanish from the family tree (which shouldn't happen) and thus the connecting line between my sim and her nieces and newphews was cut so they are just not shown on the tree
I know culling happens but it should't break the family tree like this, it's bad enough when you go back a few generations and sims are suddenly missing but it's especially annoying for sims who are currently alive and in the game
