I am having the same issue. I tested it without mods, and I am on a Windows PC. There is nothing in the room but a bed, and I moved the bed to another wall, and the issue persists. My Sims are married, and if one of them is sleeping and the other tries to get into the bed, they cannot. The sleeping sim will then get out of bed, and they will both be standing there.
