Sims multitasking eating with repair object

My sim was eating. I then queued up an interaction for him to repair the dishwasher once he was done eating. He then began multitasking repairing the dishwasher while eating. He stood in front of the dishwasher with his plate, continuing to eat while his hunger levels improved, and the green progress bar for repairing the dishwasher began, but did not move. After he finished eating, the repair task remained in his queue as started, but he did not actually continue with it. I had to cancel the interaction and have him continue it.
