Sims multitasking eating with things that should not be multitasking activities

My sim was eating breakfast, so I queued up an interaction with the bookcase (Read Something if I remember correctly). He then proceeded to begin the reading interaction while continuing his food, then the reading interaction disappeared from queue and he did not continue it.

On another sim in the same household, the sim was eating and I queued up a robotics table interaction for him, "Create Mechanism". He initiated creation of the mechanism while still holding his plate of food and eating. The "Create Mechanism" task continued to show up in his queue. Once he was done eating, the "Create Mechanism" task remained in his queue, but he walked away from the table and began to clean his plate. I had to cancel the original "Create Mechanism" task and tell him to resume it.

Edited to add: This just happened again while my sim was eating and had repair the dishwasher queued up.
