This is a very, very annoying "feature". Funny enough, it could've been fixed ages ago, since there is a mod that allows to kick unwanted sims from any conversation! Why don't vanilla players have this wonderful opportunity?
Maybe Maxis should consult modders as experts in removing these annoying "features"?
