I tried getting my Sim to feed my toddler sims and they just won't eat!

My toddler and child sims can "grab a plate" from a party/family size meal but then they just sit with it at the table or on the couch/bed and won't eat.
I've tried debug (reset sim) but the same thing keeps happening.
