I've had it happen to me while living in Nordhaven a couple months ago, but I can't confirm it works on vanilla, since play with mods.
What is a bad, but intentional, feature is that now vampires only break in once per save, ever, so this might be the reason it feels like vampires don't break in on newer worlds?
